Overview
Fibre-optic light guides connecting the light source to the endoscope. Light transmission falls as fibres break with handling, and a cable that has lost a fifth of its fibres is not obviously faulty in the hand — only dim at the tip. These are built with a bend radius and strain relief intended to slow that loss.
Specify length and both end fittings when ordering; the colour code in the table identifies the fitting standard.
Clinical applications
- Connecting any telescope in this catalogue to a light source
- Theatre sets where cables are handled and coiled repeatedly
- Replacement of cables showing reduced transmission
- Sets requiring adaptors between source and scope brands
Design and construction
- High-transmission fibre bundle with protective outer sheath
- Strain relief at both connectors, the usual point of fibre failure
- Autoclavable; supplied in the lengths listed in the table
- Adaptors available for common light-source fittings
